Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction is an opportunity to be accompanied by another who listens as I seek, give expression to, and discern the experience of my life, my prayer and my relationship with God. It is a ‘holding’ of this sacred ground as I become more aware of myself, and of seeing, seeking and “finding God in all things”.

Three Spiritual Directors are available to accompany people at Sister Eveleen Retreat House:

Lyn Gallagher

Lyn has trained through the SEED course in Christchurch, and St Beuno’s in Wales, she has previously been on the team of SEED (trainging in spiritual direction), and is supervisor of the DEEPEN course. She is a member of the NZACSD, and has a background in Social Work/Counselling including Interactive Drawing Therapy.

Kevin Gallagher

Kevin trained in the ministry of Spiritual Direction through the SEED Course in Christchurch, and St Beuno’s Jesuit Spirituality Centre in Wales, he is on the SEED team which offers the DEEPEN course in Christchurh (training in contemplative prayer and prayer guiding). He an executive member of the Association of Christian Spiritual Directors.

Bede Haughey

Bede has trained in the ministry of Spiritual Direction through the Spiritual Growth Ministries programme (NZ), he is on the SEED team in Christchurch, and is a trained Counselor/Therapist. Bede also works on a sheep and cropping farm, following twenty years experience of ministry as a Catholic priest.

Sr Eveleen Retreat House offers Individual Spiritual Direction, Short directed retreats, and the 19th Annotation retreat (a retreat in daily life for a small group over a 9 month period)
